RVCC Interior design instructor and students help with the interiors of the Raritan Valley Community College new Bateman Center
Excerpt fom the article and press release
"Designing the center’s interior space, selecting its furniture, and choosing its color scheme of warm neutrals with accents of color was a collaborative effort that was assisted by RVCC interior design students and their instructor Virginia Smith, coordinator of the College’s Interior Design program. Last year three RVCC interior design students, including current student Rebecca Wagner, submitted design concepts for the center. Wagner and Smith assisted in selecting the furniture and Smith drew up the center’s final interior design plans.
Smith said working on the student center “was a great opportunity for students to see the actual collaboration that happens on a project. They got to experience real-world constraints, including costs, deadlines, changes of direction and real opinions of their client and the vendors. This is a big aspect to design that is not easy to replicate in the classroom"
